To provide high quality, timely and efficient services	Recruit and retain a professional nursing workforce. To promote practice that will ensure the hospital is viewed as a preferred employer. Promote advocacy and consultancy relating to patient care. Strive to deliver optimal nursing care in a timely and effective manner to all patients.
To promote a coordinated approach in the provision of area and statewide services	Promote the development of a systematic approach to Nursing Governance across the East Metropolitan Region. Support and develop nursing specialisation in the provision of patient care. Foster a leadership role in the profession and health service.
To be recognised as a centre of excellence for research and evidence based practice	To develop nursing care based on best available evidence. Recognise, value and adopt research to enhance the practice of nursing. Collaborate with Research organisations and the Foundation of Nursing Research in promoting and supporting research activities.
To promote the education and training role of a leading teaching hospital	To provide a learning environment which integrates research, education and career opportunities. Collaborate with educational providers in the preparation of a competent nursing workforce. Foster continuous learning for the profession of nursing. Ensure appropriate infrastructure to achieve a leading role in training and education of nurses.
