Nursing Evidence-Based Practice

Royal Perth Hospital is embracing the concept of evidence-based practice. Processes have been established and progress made towards the review of existing and development of new Nursing Practice Standards with an evidence-based approach.

The centre for Nursing Evidence Based Practice, Education and Research is responsible for the process which involves assisting nurses to search current literature, critique and incorporate the best available relevant evidence into clinical practice.

"Although I've worked extensively in metropolitan hospitals, I have spent 5 years working as a nurse in rural Western Australia.

"RPH was recognized as the leading resource centre we could contact to get the latest policies and procedures on patient care - for example we contacted them on the latest in wound care and plastics dressings for our patients.

"They were always only a phone call away with the latest polices and procedures - we'd have the information we needed within 24 hours. This is a fantastic resource for nurses who do not have access to the latest policies and procedures within their own hospital environment."
