If you are visiting Australia on a working holiday visa, you can only be employed for a maximum period of 12 weeks at RPH. You may be eligible to take up a temporary contract or casual employment during this period, subject to registration with the Nurses' Board of Western Australia and satisfactory reference checks. You must also have at least 12 months post registration experience and have all IV administration competencies.
It is helpful if you apply for a position before coming to Perth as this will assist us to commence you at work as soon as you arrive (if required). Students and their dependants who have a student visa with work rights can work at RPH. Generally, students and their dependants are limited to 20 hours' work per week while the student's course of study is in session. Students may work full-time during holiday periods, while their dependants remain limited to 20 hours.

In accordance with immigration policy we are only able to offer sponsorship to overseas nurses if unable to fill positions with Australian nurses. Specialist Nurses are encouraged to apply.
The temporary sponsored visa allows Registered Nurses to travel to and work at Royal Perth Hospital for a minimum period of one year to a maximum period of four years. The applicant's spouse and dependents may travel and work on this visa as well.

The Western Australian Government implemented a labour agreement for the employment of overseas Registered Nurses. The agreement allows for the sponsorship of
Registered Nurses recruited from overseas for a permanent working visa.
RPH recommends that applicants apply for a Temporary Visa for 2 years and then request sponsorship to apply for Permanent Residency after 6-12 months of working for RPH. Sponsorship for permanent residence is only offered to applicants who have decided to settle permanently in Australia Sponsorship for permanent residency can be negotiated at interview.
Applicants must meet the maximum age limit of 45 years. If greater than 45 years then sponsorship may only occur on exceptional grounds. Nurses sponsored for permanent residency will be expected to work for Royal Perth Hospital for a minimum of three years.

Applicants must meet the employment selection requirements of Royal Perth Hospital. Sponsored nurses are entitled to the same employment conditions as Australian nurses.
The selection process will include a personal interview or telephone interview using a conference phone. A Nurse Manager and a Clinical Nurse will conduct the interview. Questions will relate to practical situations in the applicant's area of nursing expertise and concentrate on skills, competencies and safety issues.
Reference checking will also be carried out and applicants should include the names and contact details of two referees who can support the application and provide a commentary on the applicant's recent clinical work. Contact to referees by e-mail or fax is preferred.
An Offer of Employment letter will be issued to successful applicants and will be for full-time employment at level one under the ANF Award. A contract will be issued for signing once the applicant has arrived in Perth with the appropriate work visa. The salary point within level one will depend on years of relevant full-time experience since qualification as a Registered Nurse. Records of service are required from previous employers to confirm your experience.
The whole process from initial application to issue of the visa usually takes on average three- six months.
