Operating Theatres

Royal Perth Hospital is the largest major trauma hospital in Western Australia, located in the centre of Perth. The Operating Suite provides a 24 hour service.

Royal Perth Hospital is the Heart and Lung Transplant, Spinal Trauma and Adult Burns Centre for Western Australia.

The Operating Suite consists of 14 operating Theatres, with many specialties having designated theatres.

Within the department there are 3 comfortable relaxing lounge areas, a library and museum, well appointed change rooms, a fully equipped seminar room and an in-house music system.

The department has successfully introduced the Theatre Management System in managing patient care and their movements within the Operating Suite. The Theatre Management System allows each ward to track the patients' perioperative progress within the department.

Computer technology is installed throughout the Operating Suite, including the front desk, each theatre, patient reception and recovery room, enabling accurate and prompt collect of relevant data. Full training is provided to all staff.

Adjoining the Operating Suite is a fully equipped TSSU, Intensive Care Unit, High Dependency Unit, and the Department of Anaesthesia.
