
The Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit is a speciality aged care unit where the aim is to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and early access to rehabilitation for elderly patients.
The unit comprises of 17 beds and is staffed by clinical nurses, registered nurses and enrolled nurses.
Our multidisciplinary team consists of 6 Geriatricians, Discharge Nurse Coordinator, senior physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social workers and a dietician. There is further clinical support with a Clinical Nurse Manager, and Staff Development Nurse.
GEM Unit Features include: a multidisciplinary team approach to care; comprehensive geriatric assessment, treatment planning; early access to rehabilitation in an acute setting; and co-ordinated discharge planning.
