RPH provides the only adult burn service for the population of Western Australia.
Our unit is one of the leaders in burns surgery, technology and burncare internationally. We admit an average of 200 patients annually and hundreds more attend the Burns Clinics. This service is complemented by a “Burns Early Discharge Program” for our patients. Recently we have commenced a Burns Research Programme to enhance clinical research in burns. We also have a Burns Fellowship in the unit.
Dr Fiona Wood, Head of the Burns Unit, was awarded "Australian of the Year" in January 2005 for her ground-breaking work in burns treatment.
