
The Pain Service is a comprehensive service for the management of acute and chronic pain at both Perth City and Shenton Park campuses.
The Pain Service provides a 24 hour, seven days per week service, and aims to make effective techniques for relief of pain available to all patients in the hospital. The service comprises anaesthetists and nurses working together to provide optimal pain relief to allow early recovery from surgery and trauma, and rehabilitation for patients with chronic pain.
Chronic pain procedures and clinics are carried out at the Pain Medicine Centre at Shenton Park Campus. The Acute Pain Service conducts daily ward rounds during which effectiveness of pain relief is assessed. Changes are made in consultation with the ward nurse, the patient, and the medical/surgical team.
