Infection Control

The Infection Prevention & Management Unit is staffed by a Coordinator and 4 Clinical Nurses and provides a comprehensive infection prevention, surveillance and control program for RPH. Support is provided by a designated Clinical Microbiologist and Senior Scientist. This comprises the Infection Prevention & Management Team. Offices are based in The Dept of Microbiology & Infectious Diseases to ensure a close link with the laboratory and ensure a collaborative approach to infection prevention & control.

The Infection Prevention & Management nursing team liaises with the ward and hospital staff on a range of infection prevention & management issues and provides consultancy advice. Their role also extends to outside the hospital and as a resource to other smaller health services. Opportunities are available for interested staff to undertake relief positions in the Infection Prevention & Management Unit.
