Domicilliary Bone Marrow Service

This is a unique "world first" service, which was piloted in 1994 and established as a service in 1995. Caring for patients in the home receiving autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplants. They also admit early discharge haematology hospital patients.

The service provides patient assessment and education, specimen collection, administration of cytotoxics, TPN, drugs and infusions.

Nurses working in this area are required to care for venous access devices and be competent to cannulate. The service operates 7 days/ week.
