Palliative Care

Palliative care is a concept of care which provides coordinated medical, nursing and allied health services for people with advanced disease where cure may no longer be possible. It provides total care for patients.

This includes not only relief of symptoms, but also assistance with emotional, social and spiritual concerns.
The Palliative care service at RPH was established in 1990. It operates as a consultative service bringing the principles and benefits of palliative care into the acute setting. There is also an outpatient service.
